Australian medical instruments company Optiscan Imaging Limited [ASX:OIL] has achieved a key milestone in its collaboration with Japanese medical instruments company Pentax, by completing the design and construction of a fully- functional flexible confocal internal microscope (endomicroscope).
Optiscan and Pentax have collaboratively developed the endomicroscope using Optiscan's patented fibre confocal microscopy technology. This breakthrough in endoscope performance using Optiscan's technology now enables the non-invasive examination of tissue inside the body, providing doctors with a sharp 3-D real-time image of living cells.
