After five years, Sprint is leaving the Web hosting business.

The carrier announced last week that it is "winding down" its Web hosting business this year because the business was not successful enough.

"Sprint had not been getting much traction in the hosting market lately," says Melanie Posey, analyst at IDC. "Given some of the company's other challenges in the core network operations, this is probably a good move."
