Jun. 17--A new Clariant Corp. plant in Mount Holly will go idle, and 20 percent of the work force could be laid off with the termination of a $50 million manufacturing project, the company said Monday.
Clariant Corp. said its newly expanded Mount Holly plant won't produce an additive for Tide With Bleach detergent after all, citing problems meeting quality standards as production volumes increased.
In December 2002, Clariant officials announced that the Muttenz, Switzerland-based company had contracted with Procter & Gamble to make the detergent additive, ...
