Jun. 17--A plan to offer commuter rail service between Scranton and New York City, with a possible extension to Wilkes-Barre, could get stopped in its tracks, local officials fear.
The reason, they said, is money.
President George W. Bush wants to reduce the federal government's share of major transportation construction costs from 60 percent to 50 percent, which would leave state and local governments to pick up more of the tab.
