More women teachers are taking advantage of in-service distance education courses available on the information highway. Although motivated by a variety of reasons such as the need for further qualifications to secure a teaching position, to qualify for department status, for salary increases or for their own professional development, women teachers are still not willing or able to travel long distances or to be away from families for extended periods of time. During the last three years, I have had the opportunity to teach Additional Qualification in-service courses to family studies teachers.
