SAN DIEGO -- The Hispanic population continues to swell in this city, and retailers are beginning to take notice.
In San Diego's South Bay neighborhood supermarkets and other mass retailers offer a wide selection of products targeted to Hispanics.
The Hispanic population has grown nearly 50% from 1990 to 2000 in San Diego County, according to the Census Bureau. Latinos now represent about 27% of the population of greater San Diego.
There has been an influx of technology-based businesses here in which employees have roots in both American and Mexican cultures, according to Dorie Radichel, executive director of the San Ysidro Chamber of Commerce.
