Patino's New Blend
NEW YORK - Beatriz Canedo Patino, owner and designer of Royal Alpaca, Inc., has come out with her first spring line of ready-to-wear in what she's billing as a new type of fabric.
The Bolivian-born designer has developed a lightweight fabric combining pima cotton and baby alpaca - softer and lighter than regular alpaca - that she's styled into suits, dresses and spring coats. She has applied to the U.S. Patent Office to register its name, blend and weave.
Wholesale prices range from $265 to $495. The line features solid, plaid, and colorblock fabrics shown in black, white and a group of soft spring colors.
