Mercury contamination of the environment is the number one concern of most of the regulatory agencies throughout the world. Unlike the problems of Walkerton's drinking water where the number of dead and sick people could be counted, mercury contamination is global, yet the extent of the damage is not yet fully realized. We do not yet know if mercury exposure has decreased the intelligence in our children, contributed to the alarming increase in autism, reduced our physical dexterity, weakened our eyesight, or increased the time and intensity of old age dementia. Nevertheless, all evidence seems to point in that direction.
