IN search of inspiration for his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in his latest film, Pirates of the Caribbean, Johnny Depp turned (as so often we must) to The Rolling Stones for help. And to Stones guitarist Keith Richard in particular. "What was a pirate, I asked myself," says Depp. "A renegade?
What motivated him?
"It wasn't money, it was freedom. Pirates were like the rock stars of the 18th century.
"Keith is the greatest star who ever breathed - and a kind of pirate."
Clearly, Depp's take on the rogues and roughnecks of the high seas is not your traditional one; his sphere of reference does not encompass ...
