Volkswagen group is close to a decision to build a new assembly plant in China, according to company sources.
VW needs the capacity to maintain its commanding share in the world's fastest-growing market.
Meanwhile, Volkswagen may outsource production of its 1970s-vintage Santana model to relieve pressure on its plant in Shanghai. (See story on this page.)
