Jun. 20--North Carolina's No. 2 transportation official will leave his job at the end of the month after a weekslong tussle with senior aides to Gov. Mike Easley over a moonlighting gig with U.S. Rep. Brad Miller.
Chief Deputy Transportation Secretary Eugene A. Conti Jr. reduced his state schedule to four days a week May 1, when he started working for Miller as a part-time district director.
