RUMFORD, R.I. - Every spring after Jason Hartwick finishes the college golf season at the University of Texas, the senior-to-be winds down with a fly-fishing trip to Mt. Shasta in the Sierra Nevada region of Northern California.
"After the NCAA every year I get a little tired of golf and I take two weeks off and go fly fishing, although I hit balls every day," Hartwick said. "When you're at school, it's almost like a job. There's a lot of practicing."
While catching trout might jar his imagination, bagging birdies remains his most ardent passion.
