Their faces showed pride, mixed with lingering pain, as they finally received their due.
Some 300 black students journeyed from around the East Coast to Prince Edward County High School this week to receive honorary diplomas. More than 40 years ago, they'd been the victims of key state leaders who maliciously shut down the county's public schools rather than abide by the Supreme Court's ruling in Brown vs. Board of Education, calling for racial integration.
