FOR a moment last spring, it seemed that "Twin Peaks" might just make a go of it. Although its sensibilities were decidedly uncommercial-myriad characters, snail's pacing, and a dark, tangled narratiVe and visual style that suggested Fellini-does-Peyton, Place-on-hallucinogens-the show was a modest commercial and huge critical success. Now, in the wake of the decision by ABc on February 18th to remove it from scheduled airings for the indefinite future, a new question has arisen: what killed, or at least mortally wounded, "Twin Peaks"?
