In our hyper-digital age photography is in the ascendancy. Ironically, it is now challenging painting over much of that ground that painting has been claiming for itself in the 150 years since photography was invented.
Take Clare Smith's blurred ethereal estuary views from the series, Near Infinity, for example, to be seen in Narrascape, at the New Art Gallery, Walsall.
