When Capability Brown was creating grand landscapes, the idea of working with anything smaller than 100 acres was absurd. The modern landscape garden is much smaller.
Dell Park, a family home with a natural garden - once three acres of overgrown orchard and a derelict Victorian apple store in the Surrey countryside - has been given just such a sympathetic treatment.
The grounds and house have been upgraded with great attention to detail by the present owner, Alan Lintott, a property developer. He brought in garden designer Mark Walker, a fourtimes gold medallist at Chelsea Flower Show, to marry the house and grounds.
