SOMETHING astonishing has happened. I do not mean Alastair Campbell's decision that he will now appear before the Foreign Affairs Select Committee, amazing though that is.

'Coquettish' might be too strong. 'Pageboy' does not quite fit the bill, either. But we were somewhere in that territory.
