Nor do I refer to the performance of Iain Duncan Smith in the Commons yesterday, which was - I hope you're sitting down and not operating dangerous machinery - confident and highly creditable.

No. The big marmalade dropper yesterday was: Margaret Beckett's new hairdo.

'Coquettish' might be too strong. 'Pageboy' does not quite fit the bill, either. But we were somewhere in that territory.
