THE NORTH American caustic potash market has been generally balanced to tightening this year as a result of strong demand. Pricing has been stable and has improved somewhat over the last year. This month, caustic potash producers announced a price increase, which is expected to take effect on July 1.

Occidental Chemical Corp. (OxyChem) and Vulcan Chemicals have increased off-schedule pricing for all grades of liquid caustic potash effective last June 1 or as contracts permit.
