THE NORTH American caustic potash market has been generally balanced to tightening this year as a result of strong demand. Pricing has been stable and has improved somewhat over the last year. This month, caustic potash producers announced a price increase, which is expected to take effect on July 1.
Occidental Chemical Corp. (OxyChem) and Vulcan Chemicals have increased off-schedule pricing for all grades of liquid caustic potash effective last June 1 or as contracts permit. The increase for 45 percent product is 50 cents per caustic potash (KOH) cwt and the increase for 50 percent product is 55 cents per KOH cwt, with pricing not ...
