Micheline Calmy-Rey, the Swiss Foreign Minister, is facing mounting criticism from political opponents over her forthright approach. The sharpest criticism has come from the rightwing Swiss People's Party, which maintains she has lost her way and is more interested in publicity than in concrete results. The People's Party has also accused her of acting according to a very personal interpretation of the pillars of Swiss democracy and has called on the Swiss government to restrain Calmy-Rey before she does any more damage to the country's external relations.
