WE USUALLY THINK of buckwheat blinis as silver-dollar-size pancakes topped with caviar or smoked salmon. However, recently I was served Scottish smoked salmon on a large blini, and the presentation was so gorgeous that I couldn't wait to try to make it myself. The following recipe is my version of this truly tasty and extremely photogenic dish. I added a bit of dill weed to the blinis, which I think adds an interesting flavor dimension, and then picked up the taste range again with a large sprig of fresh dill weed for garnish.
