How does the house make its money in casino gambling? In most cases, they do it by offering games that put you, the player, at a natural disadvantage. Roulette is a great example. A roulette wheel has 38 slots on it. Eighteen of them are red, 18 are black and two are green.
Those two greens, "zero" and "double zero," are automatic winners for the house unless you've bet specifically on them. But if you bet red, you have 18 ways to win while 18 blacks and two greens make you a loser. Reverse it by betting black and the 18 reds plus 2 greens beat you.
