Officially speaking, Barry Alvarez is 10 months away from becoming University of Wisconsin athletic director.
The scepter will be handed off April 1, 2004 when Pat Richter retires after 15 years of unprecedented achievement as AD.
But you can make a case that Alvarez will officially be running the UW Athletic Department starting Tuesday. That is when the six-member administrative staff he unveiled earlier this month takes over.
Heading up the group is Jamie Pollard, the first deputy AD in UW Athletic Department history. He will run the day-to-day operations as long as Alvarez continues to double as Badgers football ...
