WASHINGTON _ President Bush, previewing a five-day whirlwind tour of Africa, singled out some of the continent's most troubled regions on Thursday, urging Liberia's President Charles Taylor to step down to avoid further civil war bloodshed and encouraging new moves for stability in Congo, Sudan and Zimbabwe.
"The cycle of attack, escalation is reckless," Bush said. "It is destructive, and it must end."
Pushing beyond destruction of the war-torn regions, Bush also outlined an ambitious agenda of aid, trade and other help for struggling African countries.
