Jun. 27--Local advocates of gay marriage exulted yesterday in the US Supreme Court's decision to overturn a Texas law that made gay sex criminal. The decision, most said, could only help their case before the Supreme Judicial Court.
The optimism arose even though the majority opinion insisted that the Texas case was not dealing with same-sex marriage.
In a list of what the case was not about, including prostitution and sex with minors, Justice Anthony M. Kennedy wrote, "It does not involve whether the government must give formal recognition to any relationship that ...
