Jun. 27--Planned Parenthood sued the state Thursday over legislation that denies family planning funds to health clinics that provide abortions.
The nonprofit agency asked U.S. District Court Judge Sam Sparks in Austin to issue a temporary injunction to prevent the state from cutting $13 million from its budget. A hearing has been scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday.
The case centers on a rider in the recently approved state budget bill that eliminates funding for family planning services to agencies that provide elective abortions or contract with other entities that do. ...
