Alastair Campbell faced down MPs' queries on the war, but the big questions won't go away
FOR the Westminster village, the prospect of the foreign affairs select committee grilling Alastair Campbell was mouthwatering. The committee is investigating the decision to go to war in Iraq. Mr Campbell's job title is the government's director of strategy and communications, but he is variously known as "the real deputy prime minister" and "the third most powerful man in Britain".
