IT is remarkable that in the latest polls, both President Arroyo and her thorn in the Senate, Sen. Panfilo Lacson, have made the biggest gains.
The President suffered when she supported US President Bush in the run-up to the Iraq war and went down in the first quarter to a negative satisfaction rating of -14 percent.
Now the SWS finds the situation reversed. Thanks to her handling of the SARS threat, her rating is now +14.
With that, her people, whose political fortunes are tied to hers, will redouble their efforts to make her go back on her promise not to run in 2004.
