BREA, Calif., July 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Pet owners are turning to insurance in record numbers to help defray rising veterinary bills, says Dr. Jack Stephens, chief executive officer of Veterinary Pet Insurance, the nation's largest pet insurance provider. Fueled by medical advancements, spending on veterinary services jumped to $18.2 billion in 2001, nearly triple the 1991 level.
