Article: How can we encourage ethical behavior? (establishing definite standards of ethics and writing them down)

A growing concern for the decade of the 1990s is that of ethics in the work place. Many feel that workers today do not clearly understand ethical behavior. There is ambiguity for the employee. Too many times they want to do "the right thing," but often do not know what right is.

No two people view ethics in exactly the same way. This then complicates the issue of ethics since there is no commonly accepted and clearly defined description of exactly what is ethical and what is not. This lack of agreement further muddies the waters when we try to describe guidelines to promote ethical behavior.
