Boat Makers Taking On Water
Recession and overproduction plague builders and dealers. Foreign sales may be the best way to stay afloat.
If you want to know where Florida's economy is headed, says George Foster, an administrator with Florida's Department of Labor Market Information, follow the numbers of the state's boating industry. "Boat building was one of the first sectors to start going down, beginning in the first quarter of last year," Foster says. "That's when we first realized the state was in for a downturn."
