PRINCE Edward will attend the historic Chester Mystery Plays tonight.
The Earl of Wessex will enjoy a champagne reception held in his honour before joining an audience of more than 600 on the Chester CathedralGreen.
He is the first royal to watch a production of the play since 1977, when the late Princess Margaret was in theaudience.
Organisers were so keen for him to attend they sent out an invitation more than 18 months ago. His love of stage and television made him the idealguest,according to director Robin Goddard.
