Article: Carnival buys Princess. (Cruise News).

After a sometimes acrimonious 15-month battle, Carnival Corporation prevailed in its bid for P&O Princess Cruises, beating out rival Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. The deal was approved on April 16 in London, when P&O Princess stockholders accepted the Carnival offer by a vote of 99.7 percent. The move followed a similar action by Carnival stockholders two days earlier in New York.

The combined entity will be the largest cruise vacation company in the world, consisting of 13 brands, 66 ships, and more than 100,000 lower berths, with 17 more vessels scheduled for delivery through mid 2006. The Carnival umbrella now comprises Carnival Cruise Lines, Costa Cruises, ...
