They may not be decked out in leather and tattoos, but the 14,000 or more bikers who have converged on Madison have turned the city into the motorcycle capital of the Midwest, at least for the week.
Unlike those bikers who rally at Daytona and Sturgis on their hogs each year, the Madison bike crowd attending the 25th annual Wing Ding for owners of Honda Gold Wing motorcycles, at the Alliant Center, are a bit on the older side.
In fact, the average age is 58, one Gold Wing official said. And, the tight-fitting leathers have been replaced by baggy denim and the tattoos by wrinkles of aging.
