UN chief slams oil tanker killings
Amman's forceful condemnation of US and UK air attacks on Jordanian oil tankers on the Baghdad-Ruweishad highway has received backing from UN Secretary-General Javier Perez de Cuellar. Speaking to reporters on 4 February, Perez de Cuellar said of the bombings: "It is something which is inadmissable. Why should Jordan suffer from a war in which it is not a party?" He added: "Of course I deplore these acts. Anything which affects Jordan is something which I strongly deplore."
The bombing of the road killed six Jordanian truck drivers, injured seven others and destroyed 31 vehicles up to 5 February. Around ...
