The European Community Regulation on the non-commercial movement of pet animals comes into force today, and will apply from 3 July 2004.
This Regulation broadly incorporates the UK Pet Travel Scheme, which has proved very successful since its launch over 3 years ago.
Animal Health Minister Ben Bradshaw said: "The Government fully supports the Regulation, which moves towards harmonising the rules covering the movement of pet animals within and into the Community.
