WARWICK, R.I. -- On a leafy stretch of Narragansett Parkway, a boulevard that runs along the coast, it looked like the Fourth of July on a Saturday in June. Children tossed fireworks into the roadway, awaiting the big parade. American flags on sticks sprouted from orange traffic cones.
Standing on the reviewing stand, Scott Avedisian, Warwick's mayor, watched regiments in historical costume march by. "Knowing that in this little village the first battle of the American Revolution happened-- that's special," he said.
