The cynicism displayed by the Massachusetts Legislature is nothing short of breathtaking.
How cynical is this Legislature? Cynical enough to seek political points at the expense of rape victims, mental health patients and poor people in need of legal services. In a recent appearance on a cable TV news show, Democratic Party Chair Phil Johnston responded to a question about the Legislature's motivation in making deep cuts in rape crisis center funding. Johnston responded that Gov. Mitt Romney campaigned that cuts could be accomplished without any pain.
