Last summer, Carol Stream resident Linda Cates decided to spend more than $10,000 to remodel her kitchen after the village shelved plans for a waste transfer station.
But after learning Carol Stream trustees are considering a plan by the Oakbrook Terrace-based Flood Brothers to operate a waste transfer station that could handle up to 900 tons of garbage per day, six days a week, Cates is upset.
"I thought it was a dead issue. All of a sudden, it's resurrected," she said.
She said she fears the station will damage her property values and the smell and noise will hurt her quality of life.
