Finally, an article has been published that addresses the issues of African Americans U and their concern for the environment in a thoughtful, intelligent, and comprehensive manner. In the June issue of Environment, Paul Mohai's article "Dispelling Old Myths: African American Concern for the Environment" does an excellent job of addressing the many myths that continue to plague the African American community.
Before I expand on several of his topics, I would like to address the issue of U.S. history and how African American concerns continue to be redefined based on what other people think we care about. I believe this is at the root of the problem.
