You might have a temptation to believe Roberto Alomar, returning to the American League Central Division, suddenly is as good as he was in 2001.

Resist it.

Alomar hit .336 with 20 home runs and 100 RBI in 2001 with Cleveland. In a year-and-a-half with the Mets, those numbers dropped to .265, 13 and 75. Maybe Alomar will be re-energized by a pennant race again. But where was he last year when the Mets were expected to contend?
