History
This 72-year-old male presented to the dermatology clinic complaining of a pruritic rash on the top of his left foot. The rash is very itchy and, while in bed, he scratches it with the toenails of his right foot. The rash has been present for more than 3 months and has not spread up his leg in that time. His other dermatologic problem is psoriasis involving his elbows and knees which comes and goes. He has self-medicated the foot dermatitis with his psoriasis medications and states that they do relieve the itching for a short time. However, the lesion does not appear to be getting smaller. He has Type 2 diabetes and is taking metformin 500 mg b.i.d and ...
