TOKYO, July 8 Asia Pulse - Sekisui Jushi Corp. (4212) and the U.S. solar cell R&D company SunPower Corp. have developed a single-crystal silicon solar cell that can convert sunlight to electricity with an efficiency of 20 per cent, close to the industry high 20.5 per cent conversion rate of leader Sharp Corp. (TSE:6753).
The solar cell itself was developed by SunPower. Sekisui Jushi coated the solar cell with resin and developed the module that enables the device to be utilized for the actual supply of electricity.
