A New Camp In Beverly Hills
BEVERLY HILLS -- In the late 1980s, Jeff Stein and John Lasker were a couple of happy campers.
Their Camp Beverly Hills logo was hot. Manufacturers hungry to license the logo were calling daily. Others would roll into Beverly Hills, walk into their store and offer to buy them out.
Eager to expand, but maintain control, Stein and Lasker took the licensing route.
Today they have more than 20 licensing arrangements, ranging from scents to swimwear. The total retail sales of their licensed products topped $70 million last year, but something was amiss in their home camp. Their first outpost, the funky ...
