In her column June 21, Suzanne Fields writes about depression. Her opinion is that not enough patients are prescribed antidepressants by their doctors. She lists a specific example of her father, who was treated with talk "therapy."
Ms. Fields, I am curious as to the meaning of your quotation marks around the word therapy. From the very one-sided tone of your column, I assume you have little or no appreciation for the value of talk therapy when it comes to treating symptoms of depression. As a graduate student in marriage and family therapy, I find such an opinion narrow-minded.
I realize the value in anti-depressants ...
