Roth: Kill Fees for |Revenue Recoverers'

WASHINGTON - Congress is eyeing new legislation to outlaw the use of contingent fee arrangements by auditors at so-called "revenue recovery" firms.

The bill, introduced by Sen. William Roth (R-Del.), is designed to curb abusive auditing practices by organizations set up to "recover" funds from Medicare and Medicaid on behalf of hospitals.

The proposal is expected to draw close scrutiny from a number of major public accounting firms which have established lucrative revenue recovery sidelines.
