Hodgkinson and Sadler-Smith (2003) refer to two rival theoretical positions regarding cognitive style. One posits that it can best be conceived within a complex multidimensional framework and the other is based on the assumption that various facets of style can be meaningfully subsumed under a single overarching dimension.
