MILWAUKEE -- While no one is about to put Milwaukee center fielder Scott Podsednik in the same class as San Francisco's Barry Bonds, the Milwaukee Brewers' Rookie of the Year candidate did surpass the Giants slugger in one category in Thursday's 5-4 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates.
When Podsednik singled in the fifth inning, it meant he had reached base safely in 40 straight games, breaking Bonds' mark of 39 games set earlier this season.
While baseball does not keep official records in this department, Podsednik's streak is the longest since Philadelphia's Jim Thome reached base safely for 60 ...
