Dear Carol: My neighbor planted bamboo along his fence and now it is wandering into my hostas. What can we do to ensure it will die? Is RoundUp strong enough? - B.H., Liverpool
Dear B.H.: The bamboo you are dealing with is a true running bamboo, not the roadside weed often called bamboo which is actually Japanese knotweed, Fallopia japonica.
The important question is whether the neighbor wants to kill it in his/her garden, too, or whether you just want to kill it on your side of the fence.
Bamboo spreads by rhizomes, so in effect it's all one big plant. A systemic herbicide such as ...
