Lockheed Martin [LMT] yesterday filed a lawsuit in federal court against Boeing [BA] alleging it and some of its employees improperly acquired and misused Lockheed Martin's proprietary information during a competition between both defense giants for the Air Force's multi-billion dollar Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle (EELV) program.
That competition, originally a winner-take-all effort before the Air Force decided to go with two launch vehicle providers, began in the 1990s and ended in 1998 when Boeing's Delta IV rocket was selected over Lockheed Martin's Atlas V for the lead in EELV.
