BEST had a ten-hour liver transplant operation at the private Cromwell Hospital, West London, in July last year after waiting eight months for treatment.
It caused a public furore that a self-confessed alcoholic was given the expensive and extensive surgery. But doctors agreed because he had promised never to drink again.
And they felt so confident because Best was being given the so-called miracle drug, Antabuse, which reacts violently with alcohol.
